How can Christians have a relationship with Jesus Christ?

Is it automatic? It would seem that way, but what does the Word of God say? What did Jesus say?

Always check to see what the Bible actually says (1 Thessalonians 5:21)! Why? There is a way that would seem right to every human being, but in the end it ends in death (Proverbs 16:25). Never go by what seems right. Take the time to get it right! Watch the video.

Is it okay to associate with Christians who continue in sin?

Do we have any responsibilities after we are saved?

Whose responsibility is it to “put to death whatever belongs to our earthly nature” according to the Word of the Lord written in Colossians 3:5-9?

Colossians 3:1-9
5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. 8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him. NKJV

When are we expected to do what God's Word is asking us to do above? The warth of God comes on the sons of disobedience according to verse 6 above. We need to know that.

Think of it this way. Who would tell you "not" to do what is written above? In the end there are going to be a lot of well-meaning saved, church attending people who will wish that they checked to see what God's Word had to say rather than listening to false teachers (2 Timothy 4:3-4, 2 Peter 2:1-3).

Does the following passage of scripture suggest the everyone who will be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven "does the will of the Father?" According to 1 Thessalonians 4:3, the will of God is that we abstain from sexual immorality. Would that not be doing something?

Matthew 7:21-23
“21 "Not everyone who says to Me,'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

When are we supposed to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice in keeping with the Word of the Lord written in Romans 12:1-2 below?

Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. NKJV

There are so many mockers today, who proclaim that we don't have to do anything after we are saved, and they are ruining the faith of millions.

According to Matthew 7:21-23 above, Jesus is going to tell some people "Away from Me, I never knew you" on the last day. Read the following passage and discover how we come to know Jesus, and then ask yourself, who would try and convince you not to do the following.

Ephesians 4:20-24
20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. NKJV

We put off our old conduct. We become renewed in the spirit of our mind and then put on the new man. When the old is gone the old is gone! Therefore, “If any man be in Christ he is a new creation” cannot be interpreted against Ephesians 4:20-24, Galatians 5:24-25, or Colossians 3 above. When the old is gone, then the old is gone!

How can I say that? It's because those who belong to Christ "have" put to death their sinful nature (Galatians 5:24 below). That's past tense.

Galatians 5:24-25
24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. NKJV

So, yes we've got something to do, if we're planning on making it into the Kingdom of Heaven according to the Word of God. The same Word we trust to save us, is the same Word that instructs us how to live.

Are we trying to earn our salvation? No, we're just not neglecting it, like so many today (Hebrews 2:1-3, below). According to Luke 6:46-49, if Jesus is the Lord of our life, He can tell us what to do.

Hebrews 2:1-3
Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

When will Jesus make His home on the inside of us? Is it as soon and we say "Jesus is Lord," as some say, or is it after we obey His teaching according to the Word of the Lord written in John 14:21-24 below? If t is after we obey His teaching, then we've got something to do after we are saved.

According to John 14:21-24 below, will Jesus make His home in us before, or after we obey His teaching.

John 14:21-24
21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?" 23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me. NKJV

If we knew the scriptures, we would never listen to anyone who said that we don't have to do anything after we are sayed, since they are trying to kill us. I'm Alan Ballou; a servant.

When will Jesus make His home in us?

When will Jesus make His home on the inside of us? Is it as soon and we say "Jesus is Lord," as some say, or is it after we obey His teaching according to the Word of the Lord written in John 14:21-24 below? If it is after we obey His teaching, then we've got something to do after we are saved.

What is sin?

The bible says that sin is lawlessness. In other words, sin is the trespassing of the Laws that came through Moses. For example, the Laws that came through Moses say that it is a sin to eat meat from any detestable animal. Check Deuteronomy 14:3-8 below for a list of animals that you can eat without sinning if you are under the Law.

Deuteronomy 14:3-8
3 "You shall not eat any detestable thing. 4 These are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, 5 the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the mountain goat, the antelope, and the mountain sheep. 6 And you may eat every animal with cloven hooves, having the hoof split into two parts, and that chews the cud, among the animals. 7 Nevertheless, of those that chew the cud or have cloven hooves, you shall not eat, such as these: the camel, the hare, and the rock hyrax; for they chew the cud but do not have cloven hooves; they are unclean for you. 8 Also the swine is unclean for you, because it has cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud; you shall not eat their flesh or touch their dead carcasses. NKJV

As you can see, there are very few types of animals that are not detestable according to the Laws of Moses. Therefore, those who are under the laws that came through Moses cannot eat pork, chicken, or any meat that does not come from an animal that chews the cud (eats grass), and has a split hoof like a cow without sinning.

When I say “those who are under the Laws of Moses” I mean that whatever the Law says, it says to those who are still under the Law and have not “fulfilled the Law” through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 13:8-10, Galatians 5:13-15).

Romans 3:19-20
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. NKJV

So, for those who fulfill the law (fully meet it requirements) through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 13:8-10), sin is a little different. Sin is not taken into account (imputed) where there is no law (Romans 5:13), and so apart from the Law, sin is dead (Romans 7:8). For these people, all unrighteousness is sin (1 John 5:17), anything that is not from faith is sin (Romans 14:23), and anyone “who knows” the good they should do and doesn’t do it sins (James 4:17).

For those who are still under the Laws of Moses, there are hundreds of everyday things that are considered sin. Read the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy for a complete list of the Laws God gave to Moses to give the people. There are way too many to list here.

For more about the Law and how it prevents a person from stopping sin in their life, see chapter four of my book, “How To Stop Sinning.” Those who do not fulfill the Law through faith in Jesus Christ will not only “not” be able to stop sinning, but they will have sin as their master (Romans 6:14).

Romans 6:14
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. NKJV

Sinful passions are aroused by the Law, or in other words they are aroused “by what the Law makes sin” (Romans 7:5). In fact, the strength (power) of sin is the trespassing of the Law (1 Corinthians 15:56), or the more a person falls short of what the Law requires, the more power sin will have to control them. That makes perfect sense when you keep in mind that the Law made sin increase (Romans 5:20).

So, for those who do not fulfill the Law through faith in Jesus Christ, the more they eat chicken the more power sin will have over them to control them. For many who attend church every week, this teaching alone is probably the only thing they need in order to stop sinning because they’ve done everything else.

That’s because there are many churches and entire denominations today that still require their members to serve by following parts of the Laws of Moses. Just by trying to be justified by law they fall away from grace (Galatians 5:4-6).

Galatians 5:4-6
4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. NKJV

We have to die to the laws of Moses in order to serve in the new way of the Spirit.

Romans 7:4-6
4 Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another — to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God. 5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. 6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. NKJV

We can’t mix Law and grace. It doesn’t work that way. If we continue in the Law we set grace aside.

Galatians 2:19-21
19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain." NKJV

You see Law and grace don’t mix. Law came through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17, Luke 16:16). If we do not fulfill the Law through faith in Jesus Christ, which means that we will love one another because Jesus commanded us to love one another (John 13:34-35, 1 John 2:23), then we will make our faith void and not be heirs with Christ.

Romans 4:13-15
13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, 15 because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression. NKJV

So then my friend, know that through this way (faith in Jesus Christ) we fulfill the Law, meeting all of its requirements through faith (Galatians 5:13-15, Romans 13:8-10), and therefore Christ is the end of the Law “for those and only for those who believe.”

Romans 10:4
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. NKJV

In this way He healed us! Understand that those who are under the law cannot possible obey the whole Law (Romans 3:20) and so all who are under it are subject to its curses for disobedience (Deuteronomy 28:15-68). Both healing and our ability to stop sinning are connected to fulfilling the Laws of Moses through faith in Jesus Christ. For more on this subject, see my latest book “Stop Sinning and Be healed.” It’s only .99 cents on Amazon.

Many people always quote “by His strips we are healed,” but most have no idea what they are talking about. If we die to sins and live for righteousness, by His strips we are healed (1 Peter 2:24). Praise God, I have seen it over and over.

This isn’t everybody’s problem who is in need of healing, but this teaching alone would put a huge dent in health care. We have to mix faith with every part of the Gospel because if we do not it will not be of any value to us.

Hebrews 4:2
2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. NKJV

So now for the person who lives by faith in Jesus Christ, and only for the person who lives by faith, this is how they eat chicken, pork, or whatever else.

1 Timothy 4:1-5
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. NKJV

Do you see the difference? In the last days some people will depart from the faith and follow the teachings of demons. That’s happening today, and that’s why I am telling you to stick with what is written in the Bible and only that. Those who know the truth and live by faith can eat anything they give thanks for and bless, but let me warn you about this. At whatever point you do not obey Jesus Christ and stop remaining in love, you are right back under the Law and subject to its curses for disobedience.

James 2:8-13
8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well; 9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. NKJV

Okay, I’ve given you enough to live by, or you can read the rest in my book, “How To Stop Sinning.” If you have any questions, Lord willing I will answer them. I serve believers for free.

Does it matter which church we attend?

I can't find a church that believes every Word of God, so is it okay to just stay where I am? Should we attend church where the Word of God is ignored? What does God's Word say about that?

Get this. We are in the last days, and in the last days people are supposed to be following false teachers, and false doctrines, because it is written that they will (1 Timothy 4:1-2, 2 Peter 2:1-3), and they will not put up with sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4:1-4). Everything is happening just as it is written that it will happen, so don't let it shock you.

Read the following passage of scripture and know that God is still in control.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. NKJV

If God sends them a strong delusion because they do not love the truth, who is going to stop Him (verse 11 above)? Some people wake up and realize that they are in one of these churches that ignores what is written in their Bible, and they want me to help them fix it. There is no fixing what God said is going to happen. It's going to happen, if they do not repent. You need to come out from among them if you are not there to proclaim what the Bible actually says, and if you are doing that in one of these places, you won't be there long anyway.

You might be thinking that there is no where else to go. I know that feeling, since it took me a year to find just one preacher on TV that still preaches the Word of God like it is written in the Bible. However, bad company is only going to change you (1 Corinthians 15:33-34), and it is far better to meet where two or three believers are gathered, even if it is arond your coffe table, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season (Hebrews 11:25).

Hebrews 11:25
25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, NKJV

1 Corinthians 15:33-34
33 Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits." 34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. NKJV

You might say, "Everybody sins" to which I would respond, "Really."

1 John 5:18
18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. NKJV

1 John 3:8-9
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. NKJV

You might say, the music is great, and God enthrons the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). God also says to take away the noise of your songs until righteousness reigns (Amos 5:23-24). He is looking for people who will worship Him in Spirit and truth (John 4:23-24). Can we reject the truth, which is the Word of God (John 17:17), and still worship Him? Let Jesus answer that question.

Matthew 15:8-9
8 "These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'" NKJV

Get the teaching right first! The only thing that counts is faith (Galatians 5:6), and faith always includes the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith comes by hearing God's Word (Romans 10:17), and not by man's wisdom, or philosophy, which takes away the power (Colossians 2:8, 1 Corinthians 1:17, 1 Thessalonians 2:4-6).

I used to visit several churches that had great music and then leave right after the music, until the preachers started talking inbetween the songs. I don't see anything wrong with just going to hear the music, especially if the preaching is lousy. Where is it written in the Bible that you have to stay the entire time. People listening to Jesus were free to come and go as they pleased.

Answer this question. Is there one church left in this country that the following verses are welcomed? If there is, then that's where you need to go. There may only be 15 old people there, but without a doubt that's the place. If they are willing to take a stand for the parts of God's Word that almost every church in this country ignores, then that is the place, and when you find it let me know so I can support them too. That's where I want to go when I'm on vacation, since when this country falls, that will ceretainly be the place to be.

2 Thessalonians 3:6
6 But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us. NKJV

2 Thessalonians 3:13-15
13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. 14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. NKJV

Ephesians 5:3-11
3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. NKJV

1 Corinthians 5:9-13
9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner — not even to eat with such a person. 12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13 But those who are outside God judges. Therefore "put away from yourselves the evil person." NKJV

2 Timothy 3:1-5
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! NKJV

Romans 16:17-18
17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. 18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. NKJV

John 15:1-6
"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. NKJV

Most Christians are willing to walk in some form of personal godliness. For example they may be sure to pray before every meal, or give a certain percentage of their income to a church, but very few take God at His Word, and say "As it is written, so let it be for me and my house!" We refuse to suppress the truth in order to fit in with world friendly Christians.

Should leaders be rebuked for sinning?

Should leaders be rebuked for sinning? Why did the Apostle Paul oppose Peter to his face in front of everyone?

Galatians 2:14
14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, "If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? NKJV

Paul said that when he saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the Gospel, he corrected Peter in front of everyone. Are we straightforward about the faith today when we tell people that they cannot stop sinning? Read the passage of scripture below concerning the elders who are to be rebuked in front of all.

1 Timothy 5:19-21
19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses. 20 Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. 21 I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality. NKJV

Those who are not straightforward about the truth need to be corrected and elders who are caught sinning need to be corrected. Read the next passage of scripture.

Titus 1:5-9
5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you - 6 if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination. 7 For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, 8 but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, 9 holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict. NKJV

There it is again. Is there anyone left out there who holds to the teachings of God? If there isn’t a church left on earth that teaches Christians to stop sinning according to what is written in the Bible, how can we expect the elders to stop sinning? If the elders (heads, leaders) don’t stop sinning, what can we expect them to teach the people?

Now you can see why the verses on stopping sin and avoided in churches today. So we have to come up with good sounding excuses as to why we don’t pay any attention to certain parts of the Bible, but that same Bible says to give no heed (pay no attention) to those who reject or turn away from the truth (Titus 1:14), and withdraw from them (1 Timothy 6:3-5, Romans 16:17-18).

Titus 1:13-16
13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work. NKJV

1 Timothy 6:3-5
3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. NKJV

Therefore, when you hear follow me as I follow Christ, make sure that person is following Christ because those who follow Christ do not walk in darkness. We can’t walk in darkness and say that this is where Jesus led me. That too is blasphemy.

Some will say, “That’s negative and not in line with the Jesus I know” Let me ask you this. Would you say that Jesus loved to the Pharisees who spoke in direct opposition to the faith? Love does not delight in sin (1 Corinthians 13:5-6). Like the Pharisees, those who claim to know the right path, but lead people astray need to be corrected.

Those who say they know the way and yet lead other astray are in danger of becoming blind and their sin remaining (John 9:39-41). So, is it a negative thing to not correct those who are blind or just allow someone to burn in hell? Read the following verses concerning the purpose of rebuking someone in accordance with what is written in the Bible.

Proverbs 9:8-9
8 Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. NKJV

Proverbs 15:32
32 He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding. NKJV

Proverbs 17:10
10 Rebuke is more effective for a wise man Than a hundred blows on a fool. NKJV

Proverbs 27:5
5 Open rebuke is better Than love carefully concealed. NKJV

After reading those verses, should we consider a rebuke to be negative? Would you say that Paul cared about Peter and those he was teaching when he opposed him to his face in front of everyone (Galatians 2:14, above)? It’s very easy to make a judgment call according to the world’s standards because that’s how we were raised. Jesus said that we should not judge by appearance, but according to righteousness (John 7:24).

I’m not saying that everyone needs to be rebuked sharply. No, some can simply be shown a verse and they will change their mind. Others need a little nudge, and still some need to be rebuked sharply (Jude 1:22-23, Titus 1:13, 2:15, 1 Timothy 5:20). A rebuke is only negative to those who have no desire to live for what is right (righteousness).

Proverbs 15:9-10
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves him who follows righteousness. 10 Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die. NKJV

Those who have been teaching Christians that they cannot stop sinning need to repent of their blasphemy against the Word of God, Who is Spirit (John 6:63). I don’t mean that in an ugly way, but false teachers need to be corrected, unless they purposely want to be false teachers. People who teach that we cannot stop sinning, lead millions astray and they will pay the penalty for rejecting what their own Bible clearly says if they do not repent.

Truth and Myths about sin

According to 2 Timothy 4:3-4, in the last days people will not put up with sound doctrine, but they will surround themselves with teachers who will tell them what they want to hear. How are Christians supposed to be able to tell when they are hearing the truth?
