What is Bearing Fruit

Most Christians have good intentions, but one of our biggest problems is that we don’t know how sin works. God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Let that sink in.

We don’t realize that the things that we do, or the things that we participate in will eventually lead us into being controlled spiritually (Romans 6:16, 2 Peter 2:19). If sin is controling us, then we will do things that we will be ashamed of later (Romans 6:20-22, below).

Romans 6:20-22
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. NKJV

>Once sin has complete control over us and ruins our life, then we will enter into what I call the “don’t judge me stage.” That’s what happens after we get caught up in sins to the point of doing things that are way out of character for us. At that point, we can’t stop because sin is literally in control, and so we don’t want people to judge us.

You may be so caught up in sins right that you unable to understand that verse, but allow me to make you aware of two things. Everyone who is a slave to sin will do things that they “do not want to do.” That includes things that they will be ashamed of later. We have all been there regardless of how well we fit into society right now. Therefore, know you are not the only one who has been in that situation.

All sin is common to man according to 1 Corinthians 10:13. That means that we have all done the same things, so you are not alone, but there are two totally different paths that you can take from here.

You can enter a man-made method and learn how to fit into society without making a mess of everything around you. Basically, that amounts to learning how to be a “good” slave to sin like everybody else, which amounts to fitting in with a world of sinners and keeping your private matters private. However, there is away to be totally set free from sin here on earth in this lifetime (Romans 6:18).

The second thing I want you to know about Romans 6:20-22 above, is that only a slave to God is set free from sin, and bears the fruit of holiness which results in eternal life (verse 22). So, if I was leading you to life and I mentioned giving the rest of your life to God, I would mean becoming God’s slave, and not live like you want to live, while checking in with God on Sunday mornings. Here is the verse again. Please read it out loud.

NKJV

That passage of scripture is talking about the same person, but under two different circumstances. He “used to be” a slave to sin with the fruit of things he is now ashamed of, and then it says “but now having been set free from sin, and having become a slave of God,” which means that now he has fruit unto holiness. His fruit made a 180 degree turn around simply because he became a slave to God. In other words, the things he purposely did, in-line with God's Word, had a direct affect on his situation; he was set free from sin.

You don’t have to understand this in order to put it into practice. I’ve been working with homeless people for many years, and a few of them simply take God at His word, and do what the Bible is telling them to do with amazing results. I’m talking about being set free from drugs and alcohol, as well as other sins that lead to death, in a few days, not weeks or years.

Then there is another group of people who love to argue against what the Bible is telling them to do. They don’t receive anything. These are the ones who will deal with the same sins all of their life. They are more than willing to embrace any and every man-made method on earth, even testifying in favor of it, and yet they reject God’s Word, which is the only true solution for sin.

I wish I never had to teach another unbeliever for the rest of my life, but they come alone side those who do believe. My friend, get this. If we do not accept Kingdom teaching as if we were little children, we won’t be able to receive what God has for us.

Luke 18:17
17 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." NKJV

Look at verse 18 below. Only a slave to righteousness is set free from sin. Imagine that. Only a slave to righteousness or in other words, a slave to righteous acts is set free from sin. If only a slave to righteous acts is set free from sin, why isn’t that taught in churches in this country? Why aren’t we checking to make sure that everyone becomes a slave to righteousness? It's because of greedy false teachers in this country, who do not want you to give money to anyone else, but them (2 Peter 2:1-3). Check the verses! They are the ones who are preventing church attending people from being set free from sin.

Romans 6:15-18
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. NKJV

Becoming a slave to righteous acts needs to be one of the first things taught to new converts. If we got our Gospel straight from the Bible, it would be one of the first things taught to us. Take a look at what John the Baptist taught.

Luke 3:7-14
7 Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. 9 And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” 10 So the people asked him, saying, “What shall we do then?” 11 He answered and said to them, “He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.” 12 Then tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?” 13 And he said to them,” Collect no more than what is appointed for you.” 14 Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, “And what shall we do?” NKJV

Bear good fruit! Give to those in need! If you have two hats, coats, or whatever else, give to those who do not have one. Do what’s right. Matthew 21:28-32 explains that John the Baptist came in the way of righteousness or explains the way of righteousness, depending on your version of the Bible. Either way, what can be so wrong with teaching new converts what the Bible clearly tells us to do? Nothing, unless we did not want new converst to be giving to people in need, which identifies the problem.

If we got our Gospel straight from the Bible, without anyone telling us what to believe, or which parts to ignore, or without adding their extra junk to it, like “Go have a personal relationship,” then all of us would be set free from sin, because we would be doing the very things that would make us set free from sin.

Bearing fruits of righteousness is connected to our ability to stop sinning. As we bear fruit worthy of repentance (Luke 3:8 above), which is helping our Brothers and Sisters in need, God will increse the fruits of our righteousness (verse 10 below), which in turn will control us for our good (Romans 6:20-22 above).

2 Corinthians 9:10-15
10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, 13 while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, 14 and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you. NKJV

The Apostle Paul taught the same thing according to Acts 26:20).

Acts 26:20-21
20 but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. NKJV

However, who gets their message straight from the Bible anymore? What’s wrong with preaching Luke 3:7-14 above? If nothing is wrong with it, then preach that every tree which does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire (verse 9 above). We need to know that, but we won’t preach it because the worldly Christians would walk out, and those who suppress the truth would not receive their money to build bigger buildings that feed no one and house no one. My little spill isn't going to change it, but you don't have to support those who suppress the truth.

Would you say "Amen" after hearing the following verses?

Titus 3:8
8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. NKJV

Titus 3:14
14 And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful. NKJV

Have you ever heard those verses? Probablly not, and in fact you have more than likely heard the exact opposite ; we don’t have to do good works. However, God wants saved people to be careful to maintain good works, even to the point of being controled by righteousness, to the point of being set free from sin. Take a good look at the verses below, one more time, so that you can see why we would want to maintain good works.

Romans 6:16-18
16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. NKJV

Many times while teaching Titus 3 like it is written in the verses above, someone jumps up to say, “That’s works salvation!” No, my friend, that’s what people without understanding call “works salvation.” I’m not telling anyone to work for their salvation, but I simply preach God’s message, and God's message works all by itself on the inside of those who believe it (1 Thessalonioans 2:13). We need to bear fruit in order to become slaves of righteousness, in order to be set free from sin.

If God’s Word says to “maintain good works,” and it does in Titus 3:8, 14 above, then that is what I will preach. If God’s Word says to “work out your salvation with fear and trembling,” and it does in Philippians 2:12, then that is what I will preach. If God’s Word says that Jesus is the source of “eternal” salvation for those who obey Him,” and it does according to Hebrews 5:9, then I will preach that too because there are millions on the path of destruction, who will be weeping and gnashing their teeth on the last day that need to hear it like it is written.

"Works salvation" is not written in the Bible. Show me the verse that says that we need to ignore Titus chapter 3, and that will be enough, but there isn't such a verse. Those with the spirit of the antichrist (1 John 2 18) will always take their stand against God’s Word, but disciples of Jesus Christ will preach according to what is written, just as Jesus always spoke God's Word (John 12:49, 2 Timothy 4:1-4).

God has saved us for His own purpose (2 Timothy 1:9, below). Let that sink into your thinking. God has saved us because He has something that He wants us to do. Bearing fruit worthy of repentance is just a part of that.

2 Timothy 1:9
9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, NKJV

Did God say that we were created in Christ “to do good works?” If He did then why is there so much confusion about maintaining good works? Who would bring confusion to what God has called us to do? Would the Holy Spirit tell us to disobey God, or is that a deceiving spirit in keeping with 1 Timothy 4:1?

Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. NKJV

In other words, we were saved to do good works and God has already prepared in advance the works we should be doing. Now who would tell you not to do what God has saved you to do? Right! Jesus Himself taught that He appointed us to bear the fruit according to John 15:16. He also taught that every tree that doesn’t bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire according to Matthew 7:15-20, and John 15:1-6. The Apostle Paul taught the same thing according to Acts 26:20.

Who would teach you not to follow the scriptures I have mentioned? That’s who you need to avoid, just as Eve should have avoided having a conversation with the serpent, because they are the ones who are deceiving millions of Christians today in this country. If they do not speak in-line with the Word of God, then God did not send them to speak to you (John 3:34, Jeremiah 23:22).

I don’t have room to explain all of it here, but I have explained it in my books “How To Stop Sinning any type of sin,” and “Stop Sinning and be Healed.” You don’t have to buy them in order to receive my help. Just ask a question and I will answer you in accordance with what is written in the Bible.

Look the verses up for yourself from your version of the Bible, and know that our biggest problem is that we don’t know the truth for ourselves, even though we have been in a place called church for many years. That’s because we are not hearing the written message in the Bible preached, but only sound good- feel good preaching in keeping with 2 Timothy 4:1-4. Find a church where God’s Word is not suppressed. It may be small, and it may not have a gym, but at least you will not be responsible for supporting false teachers; sharing in their wickedness (2 John 1:9-11).

I'm alan ballou; a servant.

Truth and Myths about sin

According to 2 Timothy 4:3-4, in the last days people will not put up with sound doctrine, but they will surround themselves with teachers who will tell them what they want to hear. How are Christians supposed to be able to tell when they are hearing the truth?
